Relationship Problems

Relationship problems don't necessarily mean your relationship is doomed. Some relationship problems actually make it stronger.

Relationship Problems

Are you having relationship problems? If so, you're more likely to turn to friends, family or Dr. Phil for advice instead of the Internet. But in the off chance that you've turned to our site, we'll try to give you good advice.

What Are Your Relationship Problems?

Many times, there are no cut-and-dry, right-or-wrong answers to relationship problems. There are a lot of grey areas. Obviously, without knowing what specific relationship problems you are having, we can't give you specific advice. But we can give you some basic tips. For instance, go with your gut. Generally your intuition will be your best guide as to what's best for you and your heart. The only problem is that your heart doesn't often like to listen to your head. It can be quite stubborn. You might instinctively know that your relationship won't pan out in the long run, but your heart doesn't want to believe that, so you go on living in denial. When you believe this, you aren't doing yourself any favors.

On the other hand, you might be having minor relationship problems with someone you know you will be with the rest of your life. In that case, we suggest you turn to someone who's been through something similar. Perhaps your parents, friends or siblings who are in successful relationships--particularly those who have been in a successful relationship for a long time. Chances are these people have weathered similar relationship problems and come through it just fine, and their relationships are stronger because of it.

If you prefer to keep your relationship problem anonymous, write to an advice columnist. Your letter might not get published right away, which is the only drawback, but by the time they do publish your letter, you may have already solved the issue. Then you can see if you handled it "right." (According to the experts.)

Finally, remember this: Having relationship problems doesn't mean your relationship has to end. Don't focus on thoughts like "Does this mean it's over?" Instead, focus on happier thoughts like, "How can we work through this and make our relationship stronger?"
